Introduction

Location

The portal address is portal.wrg.york.ac.uk

Use Cases

The P-Grade portal is a 'generic portal' which means it allows the submission of arbitrary jobs to a system, rather than being tied to the use of only a specific set of applications. This means it is very flexible, but there is more of a learning curve involved.

Training

See the training section for resources and links to courses and tutorials.

Additionally a quick start guide is available

  • Account on more than one WRG system for cross-site usage.
  • A valid York Computing Service account.

Known Issues

  • The workflow editor does not necessarily work with OpenJDK. Please install Sun Java JDK. Methods for doing this depend on operating systems. Note that Ubuntu now ships with OpenJDK 6 by default.
  • Getting firefox to open the workflow editor with java web start. Firefox may need to be configured to open the workflow editor with java webstart, and for it to use the correct JDK when doing so. Detailed instructions on how to do this will be added to the quick start guide.
